Simsim Technology LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Penji Weather AI mobile application and related websites. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use Penji Weather AI.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use the app, we may collect:
- Account information — such as your email address when you sign in with Google or Apple.
- Location data — city, coordinates, or saved places you choose so we can show forecasts, radar, community signals, and AI answers for your area. Location is used only when you grant permission or select a place.
- Weather and app usage — saved cities, preferences (such as units), AI question usage, subscription status, and feature interactions needed to run the service.
- Community reports — if you submit a mismatch report, we may store the report type, intensity, approximate area, timestamp, and a pseudonymous device or account identifier. Reports are not intended to identify you personally.
- AI conversations — questions you ask Penji and responses generated for you, to provide the assistant and enforce usage limits.
- Device and technical data — basic diagnostics such as app version, device type, and general usage needed for security, support, and performance.
How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide weather forecasts, alerts, radar, AI assistance, and daily briefings
- Display and aggregate community mismatch reports near your area
- Manage accounts, subscriptions, and customer support
- Improve reliability, security, and product features
- Comply with legal obligations
Third-party services
Penji Weather AI relies on trusted providers, including:
- Weather data providers — including Apple Weather and other forecast or radar sources shown in the app
- OpenAI — to power Penji AI responses when you ask weather-related questions
- Google / Apple — for sign-in and, where applicable, subscription processing through the App Store
- Firebase — for authentication and backend services
These providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies. We share only what is needed to deliver the feature you use.
AI features
When you use Penji AI, your questions and relevant weather context may be sent to our AI provider to generate a response. Do not submit sensitive personal, medical, or financial information in chat. AI answers are for general weather planning only and are not official emergency guidance.
Community reports
Mismatch reports are user-submitted observations. They may be shown in aggregate to nearby users as Community Signals. They should not be treated as official weather warnings. Do not include personal information in reports.
Data retention
We keep information only as long as needed to operate the app, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion of your account data as described below.
Your choices and rights
- You can disable location access in your device settings and use manual city search instead.
- You can sign out or delete your account from the app settings.
- You can request access to or deletion of your data by emailing us.
- California and other regional privacy rights may apply; contact us to exercise them.
Children
Penji Weather AI is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
International users
If you use the app outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the "Last updated" date.
